Baksan Valley, Kabardino-Balkaria, Russian Federation: April 10-18, 2019
The site of the school, the Wolfram hotel, is located in the Terskol village, the highest settlement (elevation about 2000 m) in the Baksan Valley, on the slopes of Mt. Elbrus. The highest mountain in Europe (5642 m) and one of the "Seven Summits of the World", Elbrus is covered with glaciers, from which the Baksan river takes its origin. Baksan valley is one of the most picturesque and famous touristic places and alpine and ski resorts in Caucasus. Covered with coniferous forests and alpine meadows, it opens the way to the foothills of Elbrus and to summits of the central part of Greater Caucasus.
In mid-April, usually it is possible to ski in high mountains and to hike at lower elevations. The Wolfram hotel is located in 3.5 km from the cable cars of Mt. Elbrus and in 2 km from the cable cars of Mt. Cheget. Transfer to the lifts can be arranged at the hotel reception (not included in the school fee). Please, check the school location Map.
Those who plan to access one of two Mt. Elbrus summits or the saddle point between them should make arrangements with a touring company in advance.
