The Scientific Counsil of the Intitute for Nuclear Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences awarded Markov Prize in 2012 for great contribution to theoretical and experimental investigations in the field of elementary particle physics, nuclear physics and neutrino astrophysics to Nikolai KRASNIKOV, head of Theoretical physics division, for contribution to development of the theory of particles and quantum fields and elaboration of the research program at the Large hadron collider, and Boris ZHUIKOV, head of Radioisotope complex, for elaboration of methods for producing special isotopes for medicine and new hardware

Nikolai KRASNIKOV is a world known physicist, one of the Russian leaders in the sphere of quantum field theory and particle physics. He is the author of pioneering works in the theory of the baryon asymmetry, development of the quantum chromodynamics sum rules method for finite energies, studies of a complex vacuum structure in gauge theories, the problem of vacuum stability in electroweak theory, the problem of supersymmetry violation in string theories, supersymmetry phenomenology and the search for new physics on supercollider.

Boris ZHUIKOV , head of radioisotope complex. Under his leadership a number of unique technologies have been developed for production and extraction of a diversity of radioactive isotopes for medicine and industry. A special facility was built and a high efficiency production of medical radionuclides was organized on the High current proton accelerator of the Moscow meson factory which covers the essential part of the world's demand in this type of isotopes.
