Quasi-optimal weights

The method has been successfully used to reprocess the data of the Troitsk-nu-mass experiment.
A publication is coming soon.

The method of quasi-optimal weights (F.V.Tkachov, 2000; 2006) is a systematic development of Pearson's method of moments (1894) in the light of modern functional-analytic logic. It provides a comprehensive, asymptotically optimal, transparent and flexible alternative to the least squares and maximum likelihood methods. The optimality holds for a general non-linear, non-gaussian case.

The main publication is Transcending The Least Squares (2006). Note the cool "optimized least squares" formulae.
